Achutupu is a great place to start. Tourists love Achutupu ( Dog Island ), a private island with just one small family. (NOT the bigger, more crowded Achutupu farther east.) The pristine sand, emerald waters, & gently swaying palms are the exact picture you’ve had in your mind since you were a child. The ocean is calm & crystalline, perfect for snorkeling. You’ll love the old shipwreck in shallow water just south of the island, covered with sparkling coral full of maritime fauna and flora that hasn’t been invaded by species of other oceans. All the reef banks of Kuna Yala offer great snorkeling and diving and are host to dozens of small & mid-sized tropical fish. From the beach you can see other beautiful islands, as well as the old Kuna sailboats and the modern foreign yachts exploring them. It’s hard to find much closer to perfect in this world than the beach at Achutupu.
